Occupational health precaution G24 Skin

Occasions for mandatory and optional occupational health screening for certain activities that are hazardous to the skin are listed in the Annex Part 1 of the Ordinance on Occupational Health Screening.

COMPULSORY PROVISION

Compulsory precautions are required for the following activities that are hazardous to the skin:

  • Damp work of regularly 4 hours or more per day
  • Activities involving exposure to isocyanates where regular skin contact cannot be ruled out or where an air concentration of 0.05 milligrams per cubic meter is exceeded,
  • Activities with dermal hazard or inhalation exposure with health hazard, caused by components of uncured epoxy resins, especially by spraying epoxy resins,
  • Activities involving the use of natural rubber latex gloves with more than 30 µg protein per gram in the glove material

SUPPLY PROVISION

Precautionary measures are necessary for the following activities that are harmful to the skin:

  • Damp work of regularly more than 2 hours per day,
  • Activities involving exposure to isocyanates where skin contact cannot be ruled out or where an air concentration of 0.05 milligrams per cubic meter is maintained,
  • Outdoor activities with intensive exposure to natural UV radiation of regularly one hour or more per day.

In addition, other health hazards may make it necessary to offer or require preventive care, e.g. for activities involving skin-resorptive or skin-sensitizing substances in accordance with the Annex to the ArbmedVV.

Furthermore, the employer must regularly facilitate occupational health screening if employees wish to do so and health damage is to be expected despite suitable protective measures(optional screening).
